Laptop we use to be friends. What happened?

This blog is for Nicole who told me I had to post this because she thought it was so funny.

My laptop and I have been together for 4 years now and we have had some great times together, but lately it has been showing some signs of getting old. It takes longer to boot up, it sometimes doesn't want to run some programs, I can not longer use any of the FN keys (which also means that I can't use my laptop for presentations), sometimes it gets stuck when it is trying to boot up and I have to turn it off before it will really boot up, and downloading readings takes longer than it use to. But I still loved my laptop because it is mine and I know where everything is.

Well lately it has been giving me grief. About a month ago I had to upload a video for one of my classes. I had never uploaded a video before but I went on youtube and it seemed so easy. Just click on the video you want, give it a title, make it private so my class is the only ones that can see it and walla it is done. Well it would have been nice if it worked that way. Instead I recorded my video 4 hours before it was due (it was a 4 min video max), went on youtube and clicked the upload button, labeled my video and waited. And waited and waited and waited. I finally had to go to class so I left it uploading on my computer. When I got back it was still going so I waited, and waited and waited and waited for 3 more hours. Finally it was midnight and I decided that I would try again since that one was not uploading so I opened another window and tried the old uploader for old computers and clicked on my video and just let it run through the night because I did not know how long it would take. When I got up my first video was still trying to upload but luckily the second one decided that it could upload.

Well after that my computer and I have had a strained relationship, but I still loved it and preferred it to the Macs that we have at work so I still wanted to use my laptop. Well the internet kept dropping and windows explorer kept deciding to freeze so I had to restart it sometimes 10 times a day. Well my second video came around but I did this one with a group of people in the interpreting lab. Well when I went to post that one it was locked so I had to wait until someone was there so I could get in and then it posted my video in less then 5 min, it was so nice, but it was hard trying to get in so that was frustrating too so I decided that maybe I should do it on my laptop again because I can use it anytime.

Well not long after this my DVD/CD player on my laptop decided that it wanted to play quits too. So I decided to spite it I would put a new laptop on my Christmas list. The next day that I did that I had another video due. I recorded myself again and this one was 4 min. I clicked the upload button again and it started uploading and it came up with about 195 min to upload. I was thinking that that was at least better than last time. Then it went up to 202 min then 205 min and I was worried because it was supposed to go down not up. Finally is started going down until it got to 179 min and there it stayed. The processing never moved from 20% but my upload bar kept going. It took about 3 hours to get to 50% and then I had to run to class. I was hoping it would be done when I got back since it was due only a few hours after that. When I arrived back it told me that the video was uploaded but it needed to process and it still had 179 min left. This is what happened the first time too and I was really not happy with my laptop. Well the link played my video so hopefully it works. I think I may just go to the language lab for the rest of my video assignments since the schools computers seem to be so much faster.
And as I am trying to write this my laptop keeps having problems. Why oh why laptop did you decide not to be my friend anymore? We were such good friends and now I don't even know you because you don't work like you use to.
